1954 Lancia Appia Series 1 Berlina

Property of the Editor, used on a regular basis and finished in traditional Lancia blue, this rare 1090cc pillarless, four-door saloon has been maintained to the highest order during the last ten years.

It is fitted out with normal regularity road rallying equipment, including trip meter and period (Russian) multi-function clock/stop watch but remains in standard trim (original fabric seats), except for a stainless steel exhaust system and Weber 28/36 carburettor. We have enjoyed many long trips together, including Italy and Norway, but the car is best remembered for completing the gruelling Le Jog rally and winning its driver a Gold Medal.

Naturally it has been always been kept in a garage and although absolutely sound underneath and still very presentable, it could really do with a re-spray. During 2012 I covered less than 700 miles in the car and feel it is time for a fellow enthusiast to take over ownership.

The Appia, always right-hand drive, can best be described as a smaller version of the Aurelia, it shares the same advanced engineering, such as 'sliding pillar' and adjustable suspension and lightweight alloy panels. But, with its neat V4 twin overhead cam engine and more compact shape, connoisseurs just love the package, which is why top examples change hands across Europe for sums well in excess of £15,000.

With this in mind I believe an offer close to £6,500 very fair value for money. Please contact me via Retro-Speed for more information.
