THIS WEEKEND: SILVERSTONE FESTIVAL 

Historic motorsport takes to the Grand Prix circuit at Silverstone over this Bank Holiday weekend (22-24 August). On offer, Friday qualifying, followed by two solid days of top end racing, including a massive grid, full of properly noisy, classic Formula One cars, on Saturday, and Sunday. As usual, the programme also includes saloons, GT and single seat racers, guaranteeing wheel to wheel action throughout the weekend. Off track there will be plenty of family focused fun, with food tasting, mini disco, and dance competitions. Saturday closes with on stage live music and a hot air balloon display. Racing concludes at 19.00 on Sunday (Masters Sportscar Legends) but fear not. There is more live music and ballooning until 21.30. A variety of ticket options are still available, although accommodation is now thin on the ground.

Goodwood Festival of Speed 2025. 

Retro-Speed Magazine spent four days in the heart of the Goodwood paddock surrounded by the sight and sound of impatient race and rally cars, each being driven in turn up one of the most famous hill climbs in the world. The country meanwhile was in the grip of another heatwave, with temperatures hitting thirty degrees.

Le Mans Classic 2025 had it all. Two days of scorching sunshine, followed by a Sunday of heavy rain that tested drivers and spectators alike. Our favourite racer combo? The team of Martin Halusa and Alex Ames in the pre-war Alfa Romeo. Carrying a 60-second deficit into their final race, they ignored the dreadful conditions, crossing the line far enough ahead to take the race, and Plateau 1 Category outright.

 

As ever, we enjoyed reporting Le Mans Classic 2025. Next year Peter Auto and ACO are ringing the changes, with a fresh approach. Expect to see more modern race-cars in 2026. It' going to be faster, noisier, and bigger than ever!
