So, after having to postpone the event from late last year I can now announce that the Austin Rover Motorsport Reunion Evening will now take place on AUGUST 22nd 2026.
Another wonderful reunion dinner / evening has been arranged for anyone connected to Austin Rover Motorsport; the one-make championships and the various race and rallying programmes that BL / ARG / BMC were involved with. Open to all - BMC Comps through to Rover Sport - TR7, SD1, Metro Turbo, 6R4, MG Maestro, Metro GTi, Rover 216/220, Mini - All welcome.
It will follow the very successful evenings that we enjoyed in 2021 (MG Maestro) and 2023 (Rover Metro GTi).
It will be a little earlier in the year this time so that everyone can enjoy a lighter evening, warmer weather and maybe spend some time in the evening sun with a drink and looking at the display cars.
There will be a guest speaker as well as some ARG / BMC / BL race and rally alumni and it will be another fine evening of anecdotes, tales of the halcyon days and the opportunity to meet up with old acquaintances and adversaries. The venue will, once again, be King's Coughton Hotel (https://www.kingscourthotel.co.uk) which has already been and the tickets are priced at £85 to include entertainment and a 3-course dinner served at cabaret style tables.
The function room will be available for guests from 6.30pm but there is a beautiful downstairs bar for anyone wishing to arrive earlier.
We will have a few of the original works Austin Rover / BL motorsport cars on display outside and memorabilia and screened footage in the themed function room.
There is more than adequate parking in the large courtyard in the middle of the hotel grounds and a block of 40 discounted rooms has been reserved for guests wishing to stay, which can be booked directly with the hotel; please make sure to mention the reunion to get the discounted rate of £110 for a double room. There are other places in Alcester, Coughton and other nearby areas available to check on too.
More details will become available as we go on.
The reunion will mark the 40th anniversary of 1986, which has become an iconic year in the history of rallying as it marked the final year of Austin Rover Motorsport's WRC involvement and the end of Group B, as well as the 40thanniversary of the MG Maestro Challenge.
